I'm also not getting as many eggs as I was last summer my average was 10-12 eggs each day. Now i'm only getting 6-9 eggs this summer. Could it be that their stressed because of the mites? After the mites are gone & they have all their feathers back will their egg production go back up?

The tail feathers won't be different until they're next molt. They may start to regrow the feathers around their vent and bottoms, though. It can take time.

I also have another question I have 13 one year old chickens before I was getting in the summer time 10-12 eggs a day. Now im only getting 6-9 eggs a day. Is it because their stresses because of what's going on & theyll be laying more eggs once their healthy again.

It could be lots of things. Is it still summer where you are? Mine were laying really well last week and now this week they've dropped off by half. Probably because we have been having unusually hot and humid weather. So, yours could be stressed by parasites or weather. Or maybe starting to molt? It's hard to say!

Above is a few of my chickens. I found out they had mites treated them with perethin .25%. I've treated them 4 times & it just doesnt seem like their getting Better. Last summer
s summer I'm only getting 6-8 eggs a day. I've posted more updated pictures. The pictures above are pictures what they looked like before i treated them. I just want to know if their suppose to get better by now or does it take time. I have recent pictures that I'm going to post. [IMG]

Do you provide wood ash for them to dust bathe in? Or diatomaceous earth? Both help control mites.

No i don't but I'll for sure do it if it helps. I was getting 10-13 eggs last summer. But I'm not getting so much this summer I'm only getting 6-8 eggs. Could this be because their stressed with the mites?

Yes. Mites and heat can stress them and make them less likely to lay.

I'm using garden & poultry dust permethrin 0.25% to dust their mites. Is this something I'll always have to do?
