My chickens have started roosting on top of their coop...how can I stop that?

Well say. I was one of them till this summer I built my own coop. And we all love it. It’s not perfect but it looks ok. We didn’t have all the fancy tools and used a hand saw a drill and a hammer

It's simple. You cut their wing feathers short so they can't fly up there to begin with. By the time the feathers grow back, they will have learned where they need to be.

I've been having the same problem, and I figure it's because I don't have roosts and they like to sleep high up for like safety or whatall. Do you have roosts? I tried putting tumbleweed on top of the coop, and that worked

Put them in each night by hand. They'll sort it out soon enough.

Tell that to my EE pullets!!! The Austra White has taken to going in the coop instead of the feed room as of a few nights ago but I'm still moving the 2 EEs nightly. This has been going on for 1.5 months!

Doesn't have to be perfect! The chickens don't know the Taj Mahal from a basic coop. Looks like you did fine.

Good quality screws will do the trick. I can't imagine having my birds sleeping willy nilly wherever they want.

And I carried both the EE pullets from the feed room into the coop again this afternoon At least they are very pleasant about the process.
