My chickens won't lay in nesting box!!

they fit perfectly in the nesting box. It's on the second story of there coop. They did use it for a good 2 weeks. But now they stops. I get so upset when I don't get eggs :\
How many can use the box at the same time?

If the box is in use, those lower on the pecking order may go somewhere else instead of waiting. Some of my girls will climb in the box on top of another girl.

Boxes should not be on a second story. They should be lower than the night time roost. If a hen wants to hatch she needs a place babies can get to and from.

I would add at least one more box. Doesn't have to be elaborate. A simple bucket, laundry basket, milk crate... whatever, with some nesting material in a semi dark, peaceful place, lower to the ground. If you like add some fake eggs or a golf ball to show them that is a safe place. When they think other girls lay there they will think it is a good location.

Getting eggs is a fantastic part of my day as well!

I would move the boxes down lower and add one more. And do try the artificial egg (or golf ball) in the nesting boxes, maybe they need some visual clue.

Good luck!

This is exactly what I would suggest. Good luck and let us know how it works out!

Some folks make a little curtain to go across the front of the nest box that parts in the middle. That way it is private for the hen and they are more comfortable laying there.
