My chicks are arriving today!

Thanks, the Polish is doing a lot better. I fed her the electrolyte solution from a bird syringe, and she gradually perked up and started peeping :) I hope she pulls through.

The other 3 are eating and drinking like champs! I can't wait to find out what my mystery Meal Maker is :)

Cheers,
Corinne

Thanks for the warm welcome. I've been lurking for months!

So, I just got the call and picked up my chicks. Opened the box when I arrived home and unfortunately one chick was DOA :( It was one of my Blue Ameracaunas. Very sad, and I'm glad my kids weren't home to see. Another is very, very weak. Any tips on nursing her back to health? (at least attempting) I dipped all of their beaks in the electrolyte water.

My other 3 are great. One is super active and seems a little bigger than the other two. The active chick has already found the chick starter. So here's what I have:

1 Active Chick - I think Dominique
1 Yellow Chick - Meal Maker (I have to post pics to solve the mystery)
1 Blue Ameraucauna
1 Weak Chick - Rare Egg Layer Mystery - I think she's some sort of Polish because she has an afro.

When we got chicks from Meyer Hatchery two of them couldn't even open their eyes much less move. I held them all day, giving them water with a dripper, and mixing chick feed with water for them. The next day they could open their eyes but still were very weak. I put them on a piece of newspaper on the floor and helped them walk. They did their best right after a drink of electrolyte water. The next day, they were walking and cheeping!

So I put them in with the other chicks but she didn't drink on her own for a few days. But if you keep dipping their little beaks in water they will get the hang of it. Today they are just as good as the others and have no problems whatsoever. Hope this helps.

This definitely helps! Thank you for sharing a success story :) I will keep up with the dropper feeding and watering. I did the hard boiled egg yolk earlier, but I'll try the watered down chick feed this evening.

Thanks for the advice!

Glad the polish is doing better!

They all survived the night!! I've been keeping an eye on them, and they are all eating and drinking. What a relief! I was sooooo nervous yesterday.

They slept silently through the night and woke up shortly after 6am. I love the EcoGlow20! I am thoroughly impressed :D

Cheers,

I got my first batch two weeks ago and it included 2 polish (1 died a couple of days after). You'll enjoy seeing them get bigger. My polish looks like his head is getting spikier and spikier by the minute.

Picked up my 2nd bacth of 5 EE today! They were really quite when I got them out but all are eating, drinking and chirping... when they're not sleeping! They look really good.

Got mine from MPC and have been really impressed with how they look. They all looked great when I got them. I think the one that died only died because she was so runty....
