My chicks are hatching tomorrow.

Ahhh, I'm so excited, it's like Christmas Eve!! I got the Meyer Hatchery Rare Breed Assortment (4 chicks) plus the Meyer Meal Maker. I spoke to customer service and they told me I could contact the hatchery after 10 AM tomorrow to find out what the Meal Maker breed turned out to be, but the other four chicks will be a surprise. I'm pretty nervous since it's a hot time of year to ship in Alabama where I live, but I'm going to go down to the post office and let them know to call me whenever the chicks show up so I can pick them up directly at the post office like I have in the past.

I already have my brooder lamp ready to go and a pop-up dog playpen that I bought to use as a pen to hold the chicks until they get large enough to safely go in the outdoor chicken run.

I called the hatchery this morning and I found out that my Meyer Meal Maker chick is going to be an Olive Egger! <3 I'm very excited since I have never had a bird that lays colored eggs before, hopefully it'll be a female but if not oh well.

My chicks are marked as "in transit" from Ohio to Alabama. I am totally nerve-wracked. I love the option to get all kinds of cool breeds of chicken through the mail but I always feel bad about ordering them for mail delivery because I'm paranoid that they won't be treated gently or that they'll get lost somewhere. Fingers crossed! I will be calling the post office as soon as they're open to let them know the chicks are coming and to call me at any point they show up.

I'll definitely post some photos once I finally get my hands on the little guys! Since I'm getting a rare breed assortment I might need some help with ID anyway.

I've had good experiences with this post office holding chicks before but I can't help but be nervous about it, I feel like an expectant parent!!!

My first time mama, Doris, is actively hatching right now!! It’s day 20. I literally just texted my husband and told him I feel like an expectant father! Now I know what my hubby went through when I was giving birth.
