My chicks are here!

Congrats on getting your chicks. They are adorable. If they do get pasty butt you might try putting a tiny bit of molassas in their water. Oh, and if they have a bit of green poop, don't be alarmed. I read that it is the result of the last of the yolk they have absorbed in their system.

Congrats on getting your first chicks! You made a great choice by getting Buff orps. They are so loveable. We have some that are 7weeks and some that are 4 weeks and all of them expect to get petted everytime you go into the coop. The older ones even want you to pick them up. They are great birds and I'll reccomend them to anyone.

I do want to know about the pasty butt thing...

It happens because nobody could see them on the way to you so all what you need to do is clean it real good with warm water and make sure the vent is clean the path is open and just keep the eye on them for 3 or 4 more days to asure that they don't have it again.

good luck.

aw, very cute! I love buff orps. We have BO hens and roosters and we have 15 more buff orp chicks arriving next week to add new blood to our flock.

Congratulation on your new babies!!!.
Here is a great reference book, Gail Damerow's 'Storey's Guide to Chickens' is an excellent guide, as well as this web site. This site is an excellent source of information.
