Sharp kitchen scissors are probably easiest for a chick that size.

It sucks to do, but at the same time, it may be the kindest thing.

Wait what? Cut its head off? I can’t do that , that’s a bit to hardcore for me.

No one said it would be pleasant. We are programmed to want to take care of babies. There are going to be other time with your flock where you are going to need to make this decision. It's part of raising chickens. Do you have someone who could do it for you if necessary?

The CO2 method is sometimes painful, suffocating the chick, unless it is done completely correctly with the proper materials. I myself would NOT go this route as I would want it to be as humane as possible.

I'm sorry to hear that. It's a tough decision, but as their keeper, its your responsibility to make sure they don't suffer. Just remember, you did what you could, and then decided the kindest thing to do was stop the pain. Do you have someone who can help you?
