I started out with a box inside my dog cage turned brooder but I was worried about a chick jumping out. So I let them out into the full part of the brooder and fashioned a wall out of cardboard to make a secure area that would keep warm. They seem to be liking it as they are very quiet and while they keep close to each other they're off to the side of the center of the light.
Here's my brooder. There's a half wall about 10" high in the front (bottom of the pic) and there's about a foot to the cage door. Funny I'm now using the cage to keep the dogs out...
And here is one of my 6 chicks, she's only 2 days old...
I have a youtube video that's uploading. I'll post a link once it's done - they're all sleeping; it's so cute.
