My Crazy Polish Pullet

What a beautiful girl! We have two crazy Polish pullets--Lucy and Lola. Lucy is gold laced and Lola is a white-crested blue (I think?) Lucy is the saner of the two, but that's not saying much. Part of Lola's problem is the fact that her "hair" is so big she has a hard time seeing. We occasionally pull it up into a ponytail, but I always worry that it's too tight. I've been thinking about trimming the sides near her eyes, but she's so flighty I'm worried about her jerking her head and me accidentally hitting her in the eye with the scissors.

Here's a picture of Lucy. :)

I need to get a good shot of Lola. She isn't very cooperative when it comes to getting her picture taken. :D

Lola is such a pretty girl...love, love! :loveEventually id love to have Golden laced too. I trim my Silkies around the eyes all the time. I get someone to hold them and then have the hair cutting scissors parallel to their eyes, so that if they do jerk their head, there isn't a chance of accidentally poking them.

Thank you! I'm glad to hear that it's ok to clip their head tufts. Here's a not so good picture of Lola. :)

OMG!!! I had sisters, Lola and Lucille. They were both offspring of my 12 yr old Polish on pg 1.
I do trim their feathers around their face or above until they can see well. They don't show, so why not. I trim my silkie girls as well. They do jerk their head around. It takes a lot of patience and I always hold the scissors flat not pointing at them.

With my love for Polish I got into Houdans. Like Polish but larger and heavier. It appears that non have run from me and I've had 3 in the past and 4 now. These 4 are ultra affectionate and would love to sit in my lap all day! The first one is Madonna, the 2nd unnamed right now, and the other two I have are Maybelline and 51.
