I wasnt much different in age from your daughter when I slept outside with a sick goose. Middle of winter with only a hessian bag for any protection. My mother was horrified in the morning when she found out. At least your daughter had a nice cosy set up. Im sure it will be a night she will not soon forget. An experience that will be joyfully remembered for many years to come.
My eight year old wanted to put the chicks in her bed with her so they wouldn't be cold. It doesn't surprise me at all - glad her family let her have a sleep-over!
That sounds like something I would have done as a kid! My dad found me in the floor with his Catahoulas more times than not. I remember waking up and no one else was up, so I laid on the floor between Tobi and Babb and went back to sleep. I woke up the second time to Mom and Dad laughing at finding me between the dogs. When I was about 23 I was out with the dogs when it started to rain pretty hard. I crawled into the dog house that Papa and I built for my dog Hamlet. (Luckily we built it pretty big and well insulated) Hamlet and Jimbo got in with me and I fell asleep to the patter of rain on their tin roof. That's right, their house was built in the image of my grandpa's house. Even has a porch! We would have used brick too, but we didn't have enough left over to make it the size we wanted, so instead we painted it to match his house.
I have slept with my chicks, NOT MY GROWN CHICKENS THOUGH, NO thank you. I have also showered with my parrot. My parrot likes showers, but he seems to like his water bowl for taking showers a bit better.
