8x8 may be too awkward to be on wheels, unless you are an engineer of sorts. Do you have a tractor? If so, you could build the coop on skids (4x6 with mitered ends). Or if you don't have a tractor but have a truck with a winch or a come along you could pull it into place. You sound very nice, and I'm certain your husband is too or you would not have married him. Small bumps in the road. I hope all turns out well.

Hi Thinggum

I'm thinking, still thinking to find a solution, I appriciate it and you're absolutely right, men and their ego ! Which run were you refering to ? The big one ? That is not going to be moved, at all. One run is approx 32x38, the smaller one is 8x8. I used 2x3's and 2x2 for that run. I got plenty of rest today with 2yr old jumping on the bed as I was trying to sleep, but atleast my body rested

I do have a tractor (john deere). I won't be going left or right pulling it, it will go from 1 straight line to the next. I saw this several months ago, and thought it might be possible http://www.horizonstructures.com/8x8_coop.asp. The engineer is in the wheels. He is a nice guy, too nice to others in my opinion but I wish he was more understanding and patient with me as he is with others. I like to create stuffs and built things, in the other hand, he likes everything ready to buy, no energy to built or use no mind to create, that's his motto.

What you are doing is amazing. I wish I had a run that big! It's great. It's a big project, but what a sense of accomplishment.

Wishing you continued luck with your project and hoping that you feel better soon.

Mamachic21, The tractor in the video was sort of a lawnmower type tractor. If yours is more substantial then wheels won't be needed. I use to make cattle feeders and loading chutes that were very heavy and on skids. I could pull them anywhere, with no problem with a 25hp tractor.

I have a lawn tractor with only 17 horse power. The material I'll be using wouldn't be nearly as heavy as that 8x8 coop is.

Borncountry419; awww, thank you hon

If the weather wasn't so bad and wet, I'll probably be working on that. But this coop thing is making me confused a bit.

YESSS!! I'm so glad you decided to resume your coop building journey. These challenges will make the end result all the more satisfying. You're going to have the most valued coop in all of BYCdom..because the more you put into something the more precious it is to you. I'm not saying the family/marriage is less important...but this might actually give them something more valuable than eggs...that is for your children to see and learn that if they put their minds to something, they can accomplish anything. And maybe hubby and your mom will see that too
