My Diet & Exercise Thread

I just want to issue a warning... I joined a gym in May because my mother gifted us a 2 year family membership at a gym with a pool, swimming lessons for my daughter and a tanning area. I told my husband I was not the 'work out' type so I would be in it for the pool and the tanning!

Well come June my 30th birthday hit and I felt old, and run down!

At this point I had changed my diet to most organic (I grow most my own produce and raise our chickens for eggs, while some meat from the birds). I also quit smoking in May along with my husband(the reason for the gift from my mom). So I had already started gaining MORE weight!

ARGH!

Anyways... hubby practically dragged me to the gym a couple time to do some weight training. Needless to say I was quickly looking for a way to get out of this ASAP.

They had group classes, I saw Yoga and thought MAN that looks easy... if I'm in that class maybe he'll just leave me alone. Well, I ended up hating it the first week. OUCH... then I thought about hubby and his weights and running, and went back the next week anyways... this was worse then middle school gym! (Which I FAILED)

By week 3 something happened... I could touch my toes for the first time since like 6th grade?!?! OMG! And it didn't hurt so much anymore. Now I am able to do a few more positions without wearing myself down. I can hold some positions longer more comfortably and I feel at peace for one night a week.

However, hubby managed to get me to do weight training and cycling on Thursday and I joined an Abs class on Saturday mornings. All because I have put on 10lbs since I talked to a personal trainer about what I needed to do.

My goal was lose 20 lbs... now I have to lose 30, and if one more person tells me muscle weighs more then fat... I'm going to sit on them with my jiggly 'its NOT muscle' butt!!!

I will! I have a black t-shirt picked out, and some "skinny jeans" that a skinny friend gave me because they were too big (!) for her.

I could stand to lose a few pounds of bloatiness. Ate salt this morning, tummy is pudging out.

PS: Thanks Luna!

not so bad munchies:
air - popped popcorn plus a drizzle of olive oil and: (choose one or two or whatever)
hungarian paprika
garlic, onion powder
garam marsala (powder)
hot sauce
chili powder
strong balsamic vinegar drizzle

yup, I know its still carbs. but better than cheezy poos

Keep holding the chicken in front of you

SB, I love both those suggestions! Luckily my chickens are Orps so they are fluffy enough to hide the tummy!

No salt, lots of green veggies, protein and just a smidge of carbs.

Drink plenty of water to flush out the ickies... and hang on to your chicken.

I'm pretty sure if taken out of context

i'm going off diet tonight and going to be back to ya'll after the weekend.

Good for you that you want to be healthier!!! my dad is a doctor who speciallizes in nutrition, so if you ever have questions, you can pm me and I'll ask him.

and I'll join you. I need to lose 10-15 pounds (I know that doesn't sound too bad, but I have joint problems, and if I am overweight me orthopedist says I could develop arthritis by the time I am in my mid 20s).
