My DIY incubator

dragasn I'm not sure how you could use these trays with out a shelf under them. They aren't that strong. But I think that would be a great idea if you had heavier built trays. I have four shelves that hold two thirty egg trays each for a total capacity of 240 eggs. That small motor is working great at this point but it's just hard to believe it will turn that many eggs. I think it's less about the number of eggs and more to do with a lack of resistance in the shelf pivot point and the lack of leverage in the shelf design. I have it only one tray wide so it's a long narrow shelf that sits over the 1/2" conduit pivot

I bet you'd have to be careful with egg distribution if you set less than a full load. I'd start at the center and work out, spreading across all shelves, to further reduce load on the motor.

dragasn I can't see that pic real well but it looks like an interesting design.

coachyania I like it. Looks simple but effective! Whatever makes chicks right?

dragasn the trays I bought are very flexible and sit best on a flat surface. The pic you loaded looked like the turner was frameless. Maybe I misunderstood.

An update with my system. I'm horrible at candling but at 10 days or so it looks like things are coming along nicely. Have been obsessed with temp and humidity due to fluctuations. My temp cycles between 96 and 101. So I thing the internal egg temp is prob about right. The problem is I'm using cheap Chinese controls and then checking them with cheap Chinese thermometers (a baby thermometer and a bbq thermometer). I will be switching to a Johnson controls aqua-stat with the probe in a fake egg(I forget the proper term). Trying to do this on a budget but after all the work I have in it its worth an extra $50
