Isn’t that the same thing as an emergency clinic? Or different? Either way, it’s likely very expensive, especially on a big holiday like Christmas.

And OP’s profile says northern Minnesota. Doesn’t say specifically where but it’s also possible they live in a pretty remote/isolated area and might not have one nearby.

Even if they do, parents might not want to drive however far it is there and back or pay for emergency services on Christmas.

OP also said their grandparents were up for the holiday so it’s likely they are busy celebrating the festivities and/or probably sitting down to dinner soon and unable to take the dog to the vet right now.

Hopefully the lack of update means the dog is okay.

I know our closest emergency vet is 2 1/2 hrs away ...it sounds like she’s waiting to see her vet, so that decision is made..in my opinion we should give her ideas on how to make the dog comfortable during the wait. U could try some ice. My dogs like to eat the cubes. If she does..you could freeze pedialyte for electrolytes. Does she need a heating pad? Does she need a fan to cool her down? Sometimes rubbing their paws is very soothing to them...like a massage, perhaps it would just give her anxiety a break

I agree she needs to see a vet but scaring or guilting them is not going to help anything. I am sure if OP could take her in now, she would. She’s clearly concerned enough to make a post about it. But OP also said they are a teenager/living at home so it’s likely not up to them anyway. And they also said the vet is not open today. Maybe there is an emergency vet around and if so, I would say they should take the dog there today, but not everybody has one of those around or is willing to spend the money. OP probably would be willing but the parents might not be. But hopefully the dog is doing better today.

I hope so too. I didn't mean to over-react, I'm just so worried... I almost lost my Golden when he was acting very similar to this. I even took him to my vet, who couldn't find anything wrong. But I knew my dog wasn't right so I took him to another vet, who took an x-ray. The dog had swallowed a hot-dog wrapper and his intestines were impacted. Yup, emergency surgery. My vet chided me for taking him to another vet, but ... my dog would have died if I hadn't. I apologize for coming on so strong.

Lots of animal lovers here! I agree that we shouldn’t pester or try to scare you into magically taking her to some distant vet. You are likely not the one in your family making these decisions.

@happy eggs yard I do apologize for coming on so strong, please forgive me. I know you are doing your best and I'm praying for your beautiful girl. Somebody suggested offering her Gatorade or Pedialyte if you can get it, that would help keep her from going into shock and keep her hydrated. Freeze it or try putting ice cubes in it if she wants it cold.

Do you have anything like an ice pack? Maybe see if she wants to snuggle up against something cold to cool herself off. Also, feel her all over to see WHERE she feels hot. That might tell you where she hurts.

You may also give her some relief by gently stroking her ears from base to tip between your fingers. Long, slow strokes. It's kind of like a pressure point and should relax her.

Her name is Emmy Lou Yeah that’s smart I’ll check to see where the hot spots are I don’t think a box of chocolate would cause this lol and yes she is the sweetest girl in the world Could this false pregnancy cause harm to her if she has this?

A false pregnancy just means she thinks she's pregnant though she isn't. I believe it causes emotional distress and confusion, but no actual physical harm. If that is the problem, I believe your vet can corrrct it with hormone shots and she'll be fine.

What worries me is that you say she's not eating or drinking very well, she feels really hot, she's crying and hiding. These sound to me like pain, actual inflammation and fever. These, I do not think, are indications of a false pregnancy. Something more serious and physical is going on. In my opinion.
