My drake is mating with my chicken hen

Ps I got the same duck breed and I ordered 10 I want to sale two - what do I do if they don't sell like a back up plan? Should I go ahead and buy two mature females and sell four ducklings?

It's really up to you. I would think the ducklings would need to be much older before mingling with the grown drakes - especially since the drakes are old enough to mate. Whatever works best for you and is also good for the animals is what is important.

If you already have the ducklings I say give it a shot. Grab some books, a big brooder (they will grow fast), a lamp, food, and water. Ducklings are messy so get ready for some extra cleaning for the next several weeks :) ...more like forever.

Depending on the breed of ducks you have (not sure if you said) they should grow fairly quickly. When they are of like size I would slowly try to introduce them to your drakes. They can coexist with chickens. Mine do, but my ratio is opposite yours. I have a pair of ducks in the midst of my group of chickens. They (thank God) all get along great. No rooster attacking my duck, no drake attacking my hens.

I would hold off on a rooster for now. You can always get one later when you feel ready. I really hope it all works out.

**also because I've always wanted to try it. Since you will have a group of ducklings, have you ever seen the slide? Where the ducklings run up along the side and then slide down on a water covered slide? If you find it...I recommend it :)

Could you post pictures of the runners? ( I now see you did indeed say the breed) I'm sure you're correct in deciding they are drakes, but you never know sometimes.
