So basically, today I picked up my duck and noticed there was a yellow moving larva which I’m assuming was a maggot since there were a lot of flies on my back porch. She has a scab on her under side and I was wondering what I should do to treat it if anything. I didn’t see any other bugs or anything like that on her but some of her plumage is yellow and very short around it.

A photo of her wound is provided.

I’ve since put her in her pool and cleaned off any manure to avoid anymore flies and will be regularly from now on.

Also I’ve only seen the one larva on her but the top of the scab isn’t covered and it looks hollow inside so I’m hoping there’s not more.

looks like a botfly wound to me, Dont google it if you have a weak stomach its nightmare inducing.

But its a fly and its larval states are under skin

ide clean all duck living areas and allow it all to dry and put in fresh bedding

And for the duck ide pluck the feathers around the area, Wash with warm water and get some good pictures and we can help you evaluate the situation

it might take some real love and attention, Larval parisites leave very deep open wounds

Good luck!
