I have a 3-4 year old Indian runner girl who seems to be having some bizarre issues seeing. On the one hand, she is still the group leader and leads them around, leads them into the coop at night, etc. On the other hand, they have always been able to be hand fed, but she may bite at the air instead of biting at the treat. She has trouble finding a treat on the ground. She may hit her head on the side of the water bucket before getting her beak in. She seems just a bit more clumsy than usual. This has been periodically noticeable to us for several weeks -- sometimes she seems fine, sometimes she doesn't seem to know where the food is.

Her eyes are bright and shiny and clear. She looks alert, her inner eyelid seems fine and functional. The ONLY observation I made about her eyes themselves is that one pupil was quite dilated and one was smaller. I'm wondering if one of those eyes is having a problem, making it so her depth perception is off?

Does anyone have any insight? We recently lost her runner gal pal to an unknown illness (completely different presentation, though) so I'm a bit nervous about this.

Here's pictures of her eyes to show what I'm talking about. One small pupil, one big. Clear and foggy and alert, but asymmetrical.

They are fed Purina Layena and also free range. I just gave her some poly vi sol for a vitamin boost (which she spat most of out... brat!).

That's true, but I always thought it was acceptable to feed to any poultry. We used to feed flock raiser, and supplement with Brewer's yeast. Do you think that's a more ideal? I'm happy to buy whatever food is the "best" complete nutrition for a duck.

I am Canadian so can get Duck feed...Look for a water fowl feed and if you have hens provide oyster shell..I also feed scratch grain and oat and barley crumbles plus daily greens.
