Okay, good. Did they send you home with Baytril or something else?

Just got home from the vet. Vet took X-rays, which revealed her lungs are compressed and appear consistent with bird pneumonia. Vet is concerned that the pneumonia may be a result of something much worse, such as cancer, but he can’t be certain. He gave her a shot of IV fluids, Baytril, and a high calorie liquid diet that I can give her (feed with a tube). He fed her 50cc of the food before I took her home so she has a full belly. I also brought in a stool sample for vet- thankfully she has no parasites or cocci. Vet said her prognosis isn’t good because it’s hard to bring birds back after they go downhill so quickly. She’s resting now inside the house. I’m going to bring her sister in later tonight to sleep with her- she’s been wondering where Maybelle went and is worried sick. Prayers please!!
Get well soon Maybelle! They sent me home with antibiotics, a powder food mixture that I tube feed her 2-3 times a day (you mix powder with water) and they gave her an injection of fluids before I took her home. Game plan is to feed her and medicate her over next several days in hopes that she will gain her strength back. Since she hasn’t been eating past couple days, she’s become very weak. I’m hoping this burst of liquid food will give her some energy. They showed me how to tube feed/medicate. I feel pretty comfortable doing it...I just need my husband to be home to lend me a hand. It’s kind of a 2-person job. Vet said we need to see if she will respond to the treatment. I’m keeping my fingers crossed

How’s Maybelle doing this evening?
