there is no way a predator did it, they live in fort knox, but the others were all pecking at him this morning and it's real bloody, can i save hime??? he is seperated now from the rest :*( he was born a little sickly, but has been triving for 6 months!!!!

I'm really sorry but I don't think you can save him. Is there a vet you can call to ask this question to?

Thanks everyone. I called the humane society/popcorn park zoo, and they will humanely put him down for me if there's nothing we can do to save him. I tried to take him myself, but i just couldn't, my sister is taking him now. I'll let you know what happens later today. :*( I'm so upset, i can just imagine how my 12 yr. old daughter feels. he's her baby, and she found him this morning when going to get eggs.

She's avoiding thinking about it, locked herself in her room, and won't talk to me. I know she'll let it all out when she's ready.

Tell her it's okay. This is so hard for kids (and adults!) but we are the stewards of our animals. That means that we must protect their comfort and quality of life whenever possible - even if it hurts us to do so. If there's nothing to be done to save him and let him live in comfort, your last gift to him will be ending his suffering. I personally believe that all animals and people are most at peace in death. That is what my parents taught me, and it has really helped in this life with loss. In death we are never hungry or cold or tired or achy. It's not such a terrible thing. I know you guys will miss him, but if they decide that putting him down is the best thing, prepare yourself for it and be happy for him that he gets to go to a better place.
