My duck suddenly has angel wing???

Hmmmm.... I am not sure how high brooder temps affect wing growth and at what age but I'd be surprised if the daytime temp has been the cause....but I am just guessing.

Temperature affetcs how often they exercise their wings. When it gets hot, they tend to rest more and not exercise it and angel wing tends to be more common. I* rarely have any problems with early clutches, but have the problems with later clutches when it's hot.

Hmmm, well good to know. I try spraying them down with water daily, as well as keeping pools available for them. They have lots of shade in the duck yard and I leave the grass a bit higher when it's this hot, so they have plenty of places to nestle into.

I'm going to grab some vet wrap when I get out, and wrap him up. Hopefully he'll turn out alright.

Clint, that does make sense, thanks!! It seems that getting plenty of exercise and flapping those wings is very important in preventing wing problems. Holderread puts a lot of emphasis on that in the booklet I mentioned earlier. He says that exercise from bathing is important (because it gets them using their wings).

Does my duck have angel wings or just too heavy for them as they are getting their feathers? It's the Rouen duck I'm curious about here are some pictures...

My experience - one of my Khaki Campbells had two angel wings. :) She/he grew into them soon enough. I think it took about 3 weeks?

Watch for the normal stuff. Eating. Drinking. Sleeping. Being happy. :) My Khaki flies now (short distances). :)

Yes. The Khaki just looked weird for about 3 weeks. Both of her wings stuck out (like they were too big for her, but she grew into them.)

Her/his angel wings didn't bother the duck at all. Not then. Not now. She/he actually can fly short distances now. She/he is the bigger of the Khaki's.

I wouldn't worry about it. Give the duck time to grow into her/his wings...mine took about 3 weeks.

Awesome thanks for the advise...I think he/she is about 6 weeks old when would it be too late to wrap them or how long should I wait
