My duck taped egg is chirping!!!**PICTURES**!!

I have a couple incubators like the one pictured above and they arent even close to right, nor to each other...I bought 2 spot checks and an egg-o-meter and they are all within .2 degrees of each other...

I wanted to suggest that if this should ever happen again you might want to try using medical paper tape (if you can find it) to cover the crack. It's porous and comes off easily, yet protects the egg very well. I've used duck tape too though - whatever works! Please let us know as soon as the baby's out!!

I was thinking if it happens again, melt candle wax over the cracks. That is what I have heard here. Never had to do it myself.

Stayed up until 3 this morning worrying about the little guy, but he's out!!!!!!!!!! Didn't wake up until noon and he was out. A lavender silkie baby

I managed to get the tape up enough for him to pip on his own.

I use Soy Wax for my candles and soy wax does not work. I think it needs to be paraffin wax, it's alot harder than soy.

I can't get pics until the others hatch, do not want to let all the humidity out, but as soon as I can I will get pics for you guys.

Glad to see this thread! The same thing happened to one of my silkie eggs, I was candling them and cracked one egg on another. I put scotch tape on mine though, and its on the bottom side. But we are at day 8 for these babies and so far it is developing normally. It is very encouraging to see this. I am SOO glad now that I didn't throw it out! Any pics of the baby?

I did the same thing, dropped an egg while candling.

Well, I used wax from a fabreze candle (because I freaked out and could not think straight!)

. Candled it again a few days later and all was well.

My little scented baby is due to hatch 4/6. The candle was lavender scented so I am hoping for a lavender showgirl to hatch out!!!
