Today Perkin and Vader have been chasing/bitting Merry!

Probably because of the warmer weather. ( 35*) When they were chasing her she jumped up on a hay bale....... then Pippin jumped up to and he started to talk to her. It was like he was saying, it's okay I won't let them get you.
