I was just thinking today about two situations in the last month that the girls proved to be a LOT smarter than we give them credit for.... The first situation was about a month ago when all the hens stopped laying, we started to run out of eggs so we got some chicken eggs from my sister, but the day we had one duck egg left the girls started up laying again. When they started laying the exact day we got down to one egg I though, they have it under control, we really would have been perfectly fine if we would have never gotten those chicken eggs.

The next situation was just about two days ago, we were getting three eggs every day for a couple weeks and I was really hoping that one of the other hens would start laying.... And then one of them did, but the exact same day she started laying was the first day that one of the other hens didn't, so they just switched places instead of giving us four eggs for even just one day. And this is why next time you go out to your ducks, believe me, they know a LOT more than you think!
