my ducks hate there new pond

i have seven mixed breed ducks that are 10 weeks old. every day i let them out and they would run/ flap wings all the way to the creek and spend most of the day in the water. five days ago i moved them to there new pen next to a one acre pond. (my parents back yard.) at first they would go in and swim some. now they wont go near the water. doesnt matter how hard you try to herd them they will not swim any more. what can i do to get my duckies swimming again. is it just new to them or are they just wimps. please any help would be great. thanks

Are there alligators or snapping turtles? Could they be avoiding a predator?

no gators, i am in mid tenn, but we do have snapping turtles. only the ones that i dont get a shot at. i think its just new to them, i dont know.

My guess is that a snapping turtle attempted to predate them, and they are smart enough to stay away from the water because of this.
