Last night when I went to close up the coop I tucked the Easter Eggs into pet carriers so I could evaluate them and change their leg bands this morning. With the help of my 16yo, who has claimed the right to choose which girls we keep in the flock, I got good photos of everyone.
BTW, if any bands look excessively tight in these photos, I took them before I changed the bands. All bands would still move on the legs, but some of the faster-growing boys were
definitely in need of new bands.
First, the Olive Eggers:
Purple, probable female
No band, OE male
Yellow Band, OE female. Probably a keeper for her soft colors.
Red Band, OE male
Pink Band, OE male? (photos of the comb looks more definitely male than it did in person).
Crossbeak OE, uncertain sex, cull regardless.
