The little escape artists are 6 1/2 weeks old and doing some unauthorized free ranging.

They have learned to jump up and scoot through the larger squares of the electric net.

They're crazy little things.

I think that Chipotle's son, the white cockerel who was obviously male at 2 weeks old, is the ringleader.

Last night when I went to close up the coop I tucked the Easter Eggs into pet carriers so I could evaluate them and change their leg bands this morning. With the help of my 16yo, who has claimed the right to choose which girls we keep in the flock, I got good photos of everyone.

BTW, if any bands look excessively tight in these photos, I took them before I changed the bands. All bands would still move on the legs, but some of the faster-growing boys were definitely in need of new bands.

First, the Olive Eggers:

Purple, probable female

No band, OE male

Yellow Band, OE female. Probably a keeper for her soft colors.

Red Band, OE male

Pink Band, OE male? (photos of the comb looks more definitely male than it did in person).

Crossbeak OE, uncertain sex, cull regardless.

Her daughter, Ancho, who is a definite keeper.

Her son, who was obviously a boy at only 2 weeks old and is the ringleader for all the mischief this batch has been getting into.

There is also one with a purple Band who is a blue, feather-footed, Crossbreed female. Don't know if she's Black Langshan x Blue Australorp or Blue Australorp X Silver-laced Cochin/Blue Australorp X Black Langshan. Unfortunately, we seem to have forgotten to photograph her so I'll have to try to catch her later.

This lovely Olive Egger has a name now. She's Nugget.
