my EE still isn't laying...whats wrong? UPDATED! :)

If they free-range, it's entirely possible that they are laying... just not where you've found it!

Take a peek at their vents. If the vent is moist and pink, she's got a pile of eggs somewhere. If you suspect she's already laying, lock her in the coop for a few days until she figures out that's where she's supposed to lay. She won't like it, but that's what you have to do to teach her where to lay.

Three of my EE's were hatched at the end of March and they started to lay in Mid-August. I get pale turquoise eggs from Emma, and I've only gotten one pale green egg from Abbie so far. I didn't think the third one, Maggie, was laying yet, until we saw her lay a pale pinkish brown egg. I was sure that one was from our Buff Orp ..Amelia, but it wasn't! Amelia is the one who isn't laying yet!! Maggie has been laying all along!

Are you sure your EE isn't laying but laying something besides blue or green eggs?

Good luck...it sometimes seems like they take FOREVER!!!

Im positive...I have a black sex-link (mix) that lays brown speckled eggs and a red sex-link that lays brown eggs. They both lay in the morning before I go to work and I collect them while they're still in the nest box. I'm just waiting for the wyandotte and EE to start!

Umm, are you sure you are not showing a picture of my Curious Georgette? They look eggzactly the same!

Georgette has not started to lay yet, and I got her in April. Out of my Delightful Dozen only one of the RIR has started to lay at 21 weeks. The other two RIR and others are still "thinking about it"! LOL

Patience, patience - at least that is what I tell myself.
