my EE still isn't laying...whats wrong? UPDATED! :)

You know, I was going to post the exact same thing this very night, about our 7 EEs, which came from McMurray on March 14th. Ours look just like yours, as well. Notice, we are in Beaumont, TX, very similar in weather to Cypress where you are (we recently lived there). Our new neighbor here told me that the chickens never lay here, because of the heat, which has been in the upper nineties until just now. I'm starting to wonder if he might be right, which is very depressing. I've been keeping a fan in their house, which is probably the best thing i can do. But I wonder if others in TX are having similar issues. Can hot weather prevent hens from laying, if you are feeding them layer's ration?
Thanks,
Jennifer, crossing my fingers for both of our EEs!

Just a thought about the neighbor that says hens "never" lay in your area...That cannot be true. Homesteaders have depended on chickens for ages.
Just give it some time.

I don't think the heat is an issue, my other sex-links lay every day. They might miss a day every 2 weeks, but usually they are very good layers. And it has been extremely hot here all summer. It just started cooling off today, and its not as humid.

Look what I finally got today! I was so excited!

Congratulations! What a pretty colored egg and a good size too. I'm also still waiting on one of my girls to start laying. Storm is a dorking, hatched mid-April. She's 20 weeks now, but no eggs yet. My other girl, Rogue (a Barred Rock), is around a year old and she lays 5 eggs a week. I'm hoping Storm will catch on by watching Rogue.

How beautiful! And congratulations!! It's so hard to wait, isn't it!! But it's such fun when you discover an egg!!

I still have one EE out of 4 who hasn't laid yet and I can't wait to see what color eggs she lays. So far I get light pink, pale turquoise and pale green.
