Holachicka, This might sound a little weird, since coturnix are hard to candle I bought a stethoscope at the local drug store. When they get close to hatching I listen for their chirping or them starting to peck at the shell.
Also, 100 eggs, you should have plenty of quail in about 18 days. I started with 5 and now I have over 100 (different kinds). The coturnix are egg laying machines. Good Luck!

Day 16 and nothing yet, I know I'm being impatient though!

Hunter, That sounds like a brilliant idea!!! I'll have to go get one! Gbov, I heard that you could scramble up some eggs and feed that to them too, good luck!! Chickenwhisper, Is Ashley getting to watch? C'mon everyones little chickies!!

I was able to bleach out my brooder and get it almost set up before the heat killed my attempts! I'll finish it up when it cools off...

So excited, Hope they hatch!!

DH thought it would be funny to play a joke on me, and put a speckled rock in there! Lol! BUT He almost lost his hand when I found out he opened my incubator during lockdown!! (He didn't know so I didn't hurt him)

This is a blast!!!

I have 8 out of their shells all at once! 4 more on the way! I love how they open the shell like a can opener!!! My three year old is so excited! (Heck, so am I!) I had an appt for the dog at the groomer today, but there is no way I'm leaving these babies!!!
