My Eggs from Sonew arrived!! I HAVE A BABY!!!!!!!!!

Sonew, WOOOOHHOOOOOO!! What color are they?

Owens Mom, you'd think that the incubation would be easier wouldn't you? I am just nursing this bator as much as possible making sure it stays in range. As Sonew says, I have to tell myself to STEP AWAY FROM THE BATOR.

OH! And I'm gonna confess, I candled one of the silkes that was intact aircell and only kept it out a second. We are only day 3, so there wasn't much to see. But I saw the faint circle that Silkiechicken had on the thread she has about candling eggs. I think hers was at 58 hours, that pic... So that one is developing. And another confession. I tried a light blue one. Couldn't see anything and was scared to keep it out more than a few seconds or move it around much.

It's my husband's fault. He left on a trip for work and no one was here to smack my hands. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Sometime during the night last night my temp went up to 110.5!!! I don't know how long it stayed there, but it probably doesn't matter. This bator ran for a week before I put any eggs in and it has held temps perfectly since I put them in. How in the world did this happen??? I was sick when I check the thermometer this morning. I guess this probably means I have nothing left to hatch.

OK never say never-dont throw any away-stabalize the temps and wait until candeling day. It happens to all of uf-I dont know why those dumb bators do that-mine has done it numerous times-the only good thing is -is that we watch them constantly so we tend to catch spikes in enough time to save all or at least some...How long was it like that? what day are you on?

I'm on day 5. I don't know how long it was like that because my thermometer only gives me a history but it does not list times. I am sure it probably wasn't a short time because them temp rises and falls so slowly in this bator. I thought that was one reason it holds so well for a homemade bator. But I can't be sure. I will wait until candling day to be sure. But the temp gauge is in a water wiggler. That's not an air temp, it would have been an actual egg temp, sot that's what's so bad. ARRRGGGHHHH. Had it happened during the day, I would have surely seen it before it got that high, though. I look in the glass frequently at my temps and humidity all day. It was at 100 when I went to bed last night. When I got up this morning and reached in to turn I saw it was at 102.4 So I hit the history button and saw that at some point it had gone to 110.5. I know it had never done that before last night because I checked the history yesterday morning, too.

Open the lid immediately and give it a few minutes to come down to temp. You want the eggs internal temp down, not just the air temp..... if you have a water wiggler it will help you gauge that a little more accurately. Then let them go for awhile and candle in a few days. You just never know, they might make it. Stranger things have happened.

ouch that was the internal temp? Ive never dealt with a water wiggler before. I would lift off the top too and let the hot air out of bator for a minute-youd rather have the eggs cool down for a short period of time than over heat more...

Ok, I opened it. The water wiggler temp is going down very slowly. Of course the air temp is already much lower.

So how much longer before I'll be able to tell if these are alive? Seriously! My girls are going to be soooo disappointed. And I'm afraid if we have to start over there won't be enough time to finish a hatch before our next hospital stay with my daughter. Once they are hatched my family will care for the babies. but they are not going to be turning eggs and monitoring temps. And really, the whole point of hatching is to get to enjoy seeing it happen, or at least that's a big part of it for me.

I've looked around and i see that this happens from time to time even with the LG's and Hovabators. I see people post on here about it. I wonder what causes it? Especially when I know this bator was not opened or messed with all night.

Im not sure-tomorrow will be day 6 so after temps and everything stabalize candle tomorrow-you should totally be able to see things then too. Even if it looks like nothing is going on in the eggs-leave them in-you never know-there are some pretty incredible stories on here about completely terrible problems and still manage to get babies out...I have a hovabator and alwasy have problems-Im upgrading very soon because of it. Dont give up yet... sending hatching prayers to you
