Seriously, tomorrow is day 9, so maybe tomorrow. I do have the one that oozed a bit that one day. I need to go check it. It's a silkie, and I was sure there was a baby in there so I don't want to throw it away. But I'm afraid it may not be viable now. It doesn't stink yet, though.

OMG Im such and enabler because to tell you the truth I (in my own sneaky world) would do it when hes not looking because my DH does the same to me all though he was really impressed with how much I didnt touch the bator this hatch and it was the best hatch I ve ever had-that say something doesnt it? Now with the eggs that are going in tomorrow-I have a chunck of change invested in those buggers so I will do exactly what I did this last hatch--so I will tell you ---wait till tomorrow "smack smack smack" GET AWAY FROM THE BATOR-except on that oozer-I would check that:-) then enough women! LOL...

Okay, my oozer is still not stinky, but I think it has quit. I still see what looks like a baby chick, but it looks just like it did when I first noticed the oozing...

On a much happier note, slap my hand, but I candled one of the silkie eggs without a detached cell. AND I HAVE A VERY ALIVE, VERY ACTIVE BABY IN THERE. SHE DID A NICE FLIP OR THREE FOR ME!!!! I thought I was seeing movement the other day, but there was no question this time. I quickly but gingerly put her up and now I don't want to touch them anymore. I'm scared of hurting them. That was the most awesome thing! To see that and get to hold it!

I'm sooo excited. At least one baby has survived the temp spike and is looking like a live wire!

Okay, day 9, candling day! I went and bought myself a new light to celebrate the convergence of payday and candling day.

So... drumroll please: 6 are for sure developing!!! I can see the dark area getting larger and filling the eggs on EE's. There are 5 of those and the one silkie I mentioned last night who was showing me her gymnastics skills. I can not see movement on the EE's. It's too dark in there. But I can see air cells, whites and the dark area so I'm pretty positive on those. 2 more EE's are possibles, but just not as far along. Not sure if they are recent quitters or just slow developers. But I'm hoping they are just little runts who'll come out fine. I am pretty certain the little silkie oozer has quit. It seems to be getting even lighter, but I don't see a blood ring. Still no stink. Just like what was there is disappearing, if that makes sense.

So here's the total:

Had 4 silkies - 1 is developing. 2 are clear. 1 pretty sure quitter (oozer).
Had 8 blue/green EE's - 5 appear to be developing at the same rate. 2 seem to be a little behind. 1 is perfectly clear.
Had 4 olive eggs - can't see a thing, even with the new light. So I'm holding out hope that all 4 are good!!

Total: 6 for sures, 2 slow?? ones, 3 clears, 1 quitter, and 4 olive mysteries

Not bad for all these babies have been through.

Official disclaimer: I am first time hatcher, inexperienced candler who has learned everything she knows from folks here on BYC and way too much reading and researching. My analysis is worth less than you have paid for it... But I think I'm right and I'm happy.
