I see where ZooMumzy who's due tomorrow had lots of broken aircells and she has had almost all of hers develop! So they do work! On the Jan 5 hatch thread.

I may be wrong here, but I believe if a bubble is floating with every turn it indicates a broken air cell. I thought a detached air cell was loose from the shell but not broken. I have some of those in, but didn't think I should even try the broken air cell ones. Was I wrong? Does it matter?

Also, if it interests anyone,I was just told by a member that for a fee (7.50 I believe for a box under 10 lbs) you can apply "special handling" like they use to mail chicks. Can't throw THEM around. It might help, don't know yet. Mine have suffered from rough handling, not the cold...so far.

Oh, no. Now I don't know. I need to go back and look at the info I read. I'm going try them all and see what happens. How do you tell if one is detached if it doesn't move?

On mine you can see that the air cell is irregular in shape when it has been in the incubator for a week. It shifts a bit when turned, but there isn't a loose bubble. I've seen those too. I would really like to know if they are worth trying.

Ban Seabhag,

See this thread, posts 7-9. This describes what I see. I see one large bubble moving, not lots of small ones which would indicate that it was broken. It's just detached. It sounds like what you are describing might be partial detachment. I don't know. I am new at this, but I am trying them. There is definitely evidence of people on here who have had success with the type of movement I am seeing.

Seems they can stabilize again. I don't think I will candle again after the 24 hours the way they mention in this thread I referenced. I'm going to be very steady and transfer them to the bator. And then I'll leave them be for 3 days before I turn them. I am going to TRY (slap my hand) to keep my hands off them a few days after that before I candle. At least on the injured ones.
