Sonue, Thanks the cochins are beautiful. It would not matter who lays the eggs they are beautiful!! I am excited about getting the eggs and having cochins. A friend wants me to hatch out quail for him but says that I need broodys. Do your hens go broody?
Blessedmama, now you have to figure out the genetics!! That should keep you busy. The girls will have lots to look forward to. Next hatch will be easier but no less exciting i expect. Lynn

The blue hen went broody at 7 months old .she sweetly stole all eggs laid in "her" box-good thing I collect sevreal times day- I got her out of it after two weeks buy forcing her to out and play and gather bugs..I took her favorit nest box away:-( but they do like to go broody...

Sonew, YES now I'm really excited. I once had a pet bird and she died a few yrs ago. I really miss her. Maybe one of these girls will become a pet. Sounds like they have wonderful personalities. Should I look for an unrelated roo for the girls. Maybe I wont breed them at all.
Blessedmama, How are your new girls doing? The pics are sooo totally cute.

No the bros and sis's can be mated togther ..I believe downt the line fertility drops with inbreeding so I woulf not be a bad idead after a genration or two to add new genetics into the stock..I do and will continue to but for now it bro x sis mating.

They are great and are sleeping right now. They are feisty little things! Such characters.

I think Rachel is zipping (#13). Only it kind of looks like the blue one did earlier, a big hole in the side...
