My emu is hurt and I don't know what to do. HELP!!!

I haven't been been on here for a while because I have been so busy with me bird and school. But, back to my bird. It seems that his hip has twisted or something. He limps and it looks painful for him to walk. The leg seems to be twisting further and further almost every day. I honestly do not want to go to a vet because I don't know where one is and I do not have the money for a bunch of visits. Please help. He does not like it whenever i try and touch his injured leg but he lets me pick him up, and he likes to sleep sitting in my lap( odd but cute).
He is my only emu, and he means the world to me. If it comes to going to the vet, I will do it, but if I can fix it myself then I will.
I am at school at the moment, but once I get home, I will film him walking and running so that y'all can get an accurate view of his condition.

The leg started out at a slight slight angle and has progressively gotten more to a 90 degree angle over a period of a few weeks. He is almost 4 months old. He has also always walked with his right leg slightly outward. I don't know if his legs are splayed or what.
Can i possibly try and tape his legs in a way that would correct the angle?
There are no vets around here that know what an emu even is!

He would most likely need a vet. Some Emu developed leg issues as you described...most are unfixable. ...strange it developed so slowly.... A vet would need to take a look to be sure.

I don’t want to leave Emu Hugger alone on this one. If the problem developed ‘spontaneously’ – that is, not through an injury – then you stand at a fork in the roads. Both captive-bird owners and tame-bird ‘owners’ are always always in the position that they may lose a much-loved feathery friend.

Captive birds often have the option of a vet’s treatment, but even then the outcome is often negative, and the ugly bottom-line decision to end a bird’s suffering must be made; and, if you love this little critter, you must make it.

Examine your options: get opinions from BYC folk; be of stout heart; keep us informed.

Your bird has splayed leg like mine does. I taped the tendon back to the back of the hock til her leg grew. She hasn't stopped running and jumping but her leg is twisted/turned to the right and bends underneath her body. I will talk more tonight right now work is calling me. Look through my hatching thread and it states more on this situation.
