Love the names I had a duck named Duke because a friend of mine is obbsessed w/ Duke University.

(Posting this separately) Back to the Silkies...
Which would you do?
1. Put the black boy w/the black girl
2. Later put a grey boy w/the black girl
3. Only keep one roo w/her to decrease stress for her and mate a grey boy later w/the offspring of the black pair
one, none or all of the above?
If I keep the black boy w/her, they'd have more time to "grow up" together. If I put a grey boy w/her, those two are vying for "kingpin" position and I think it'd be aggressive w/her right now as they both are the past two days (I've been home so I distract them when I hear that going on w/treats or cleaning cage).

I need to get you some updated photos... 2 boys, 2 girls... absolutely GORGEOUS little fuzzies. And they are looking really good in the fur...er, feather department... no barbed feathers in their tails at ALL.
That's ok, Charlie... it's 100 pounds of incubator... but do you think you might be able to handle some more silkie eggs?

I hope you'll share photos when they're all grown up.
Here's a couple more photos of Lucas, my Red Dorking. Unless I try pairing him up with a silver grey, I won't have more Reds until 2010. We'll see... I'm curious how the genetics of two very different colors would mix.

Of course I'll keep you updated of them, I put all four out in the warmest coop this weekend w/the EE chicks but it made the EE chicks not want to fly and explore as the Silkies wanted to just walk and stay in a very small area so they are back in the house but separate cages, the boys are very bossy to the poor girl so she's by herself mornings (starting today) and afternoons/evenings she has a guy for company since they behave while sleeping. I'm hoping this routine gives her some confidence in standing up for herself as a true Alaskan woman
So far she's very timid w/those boys and I may put a nice girl w/her to help out. Trial and error but I want her happy and safe...she's so sweet! (They are side by side dog kennels so they are not stressing and I missed the biggest male's falcon/hawk calls or is it seagull screes?)

Tori, eggs would probably be alot easier to tote!
Yes, I am planning to bring more eggs with me next trip. We'll see if I can get lucky again. Next trip is planned for July.
