My first batch of meaties just arrived! 26 Cornish x

Thank you so much my friend. That is what I see when I look at them too. I am hard pressed to see where all the horror stories come from with these birds. They do poop a lot, but that is easily counter acted with the right husbandry. I have been setting up my butcher area today and getting everything prepared. Work sat and sun, Mon is the day! I plan on doing a "first time processing" thread showing the equipment I chose, and how it all worked out. This place has been so helpful for me, I look forward to giving back here in the meat forum.
They look great! They are what they are, meat birds. Do not think of them as pets or layers or friends, give them good care as you have, and you are rewarded with healthy meat. Never knew that there was a horror story problem with this until the internet!:old

Awesome! I hope you put a link to it here so I can find it! :lau I always like seeing how others do their birds in the hopes that I can learn a thing or too.
I always feel bad doing the actual killing, but I keep reminding myself that is what I raised them for and they had a good, but short, life. Good luck on Monday!!

Thanks so much! I'm rereading the same 4 pages of my butchering book over and over lol. I will let you guys know how it goes!

Just processed a bird. Took about an hour from jugular cut to cooler ice bath. Honestly, it could not have gone smoother, but maybe a little quicker. I am confident my bird suffered very little if at all. I will post a detailed thread a little later and drop a link here. Here's a little preview!
