This is going to be a blog of sorts. Its our first time hatching eggs, so its exciting for us. Its been a lot of work, but we hope its about to pay off. We are now in LOCKDOWN
yesss.gif

We bought 12 eggs online and have been incubating since the 30th of last month. They sent us 15 and 1 had a crack, so we are down to 14. We tried to candle before lock down, but had no luck. We did see the air pocket in the one we tried, but that's it. They where all heavy though. A few even moved when we picked the eggs up out of the turner. I have been taking video every few days and when they hatch I will put it all together to show our progreshion. I just cant wait to see an egg broken open lol. My wife had a dream last night that they had already hatched. We caught the bug!

Depending on temperature and genetics you may start seeing chicks as soon as day 15. Everyone will tell you 17 days but there are often a lot of variables that decide that factor. Don't remove the eggs until day 20 or so. Just last week I was busy and forgot to take the eggs out of the hatcher and two days after all the other chicks were hatched there were a couple of little stragglers peeping at me in there. Good luck and hopefully you get a bunch of fuzzybutts for your effort. Don't forget to ask if you have any questions during your hatch, we want to see you get as many peepers as possible.

Mine went in the same day and I am also on my first hatch!

Do you know what type of quail they are?

I've got mine for eggs and meat ( if I'm brave )...

I was going to lockdown Saturday night. So exciting!

Awesome. I have coturnix eggs. Got some movement today but no pipping, so the wait continues.... I brought my 10gal fish tank in from the shed and some wood chips today but its not set up yet. I think I will leave them in for at least a day, so once I see some action I will set things up.

Thanks DC3085. I have done a lot of looking online getting tips and instructions. It never fails that a search always turns up helpful posts from BYC. At this point I just have to wait, although I am far from an expert, I have read a lot of helpful info. One thing I can think of now. We had a small turtle in the tank. Can I use diluted, unscented bleach to sanitize it?

I'm a week behind you! Put my eggs (29...had 30 but cracked on trying to figure out the Brinsea bar system...) into the incubator on the 7th so, this time next week, I'll be on lockdown (and you'll have had yours hatch!) Good luck with it! I'll be checking this thread to see how you're doing. (Sharing the excitement.)
