Mrs. AK-Bird-Brain :
Yes, they are both females, and look to maybe (Niki... tell me if I'm wrong, I suck at the colors!) silver mixes?
They do best with 1/4" hardware cloth for their feet, but can go up to 1/2" or 1x1/2", I've heart. Just watch that their feet aren't falling through.
Juicy fruits and veggies seem to be the favorites... cucumber, grapes, the like.
You want higher protein rations for the quail... 22-24% at the lowest if you can help it. Think about the size of the egg they lay... that takes a LOT out of them.
The one is deffinatly a hen (the one with the stripes) she looks like a redbreasted/silver mix if I had to guess colors (but im no expert at all those mixes you can get). The other one looks like a silver/blue faced male to me....if that's reallya blue im seeing on the face/chest it's deffinatly a male if not *shrugs* "idunno
All ya can do now is wait for the calls like Tori (ak) is saying, and eggies...but you will get eggs from atleast one of them (the stripped/tan one).
edited, you have a male female pair for SURE! I looked back at the pictures, the male (the one with blue on his face and chest) has reddish/rusty tail feathers! I just saw that now lol! Male female! YAY!!!
Congrats!
edted again: she was probably already laying before you got her, however, she make take up to 2 weeks before she'll lay for you...my button quail hen I bought from another breeder took a day over 2 weeks before i saw my first button quail egg! LOL! She may lay one tonight for you, and then not again for a few weeks so just be prepaired for that possibility.
