My First Chicken Egg!!!

Hey guys I have some really good news! My blue andalusion hen layer her first egg! I was watering my plants when I heard all the chickens screaming. So I checked out the coop. My blue andalusion was sitting right next to a small white egg. I know it was her because she is the only hen I have that lays white eggs. Anyway, it’s kind of dirty with bits of poop should I be concerned? Also, when do you think she will be laying again? I’m still so excited that they are finally laying!

First eggs are always so very exciting "dirty" eggs usually from dirty feet, have you checked her vent? You can just wash it off prior to using, no biggie. Contratulations! Another way you can tell who's laying is measure their pelvic bone spread ....

What’s in your nesting boxes ? Clean bedding or sand keep eggs clean , unless they’re laying on the poop board like my pullets , then it’s nice brown eggs with a poop topping

She has clean bedding. I guess here feet are muddy. But, for the past few days she’s been laying clean eggs.
