My first chicks...EVERYTHING'S NEW!!

Here's another dumb question, I'm sure...as far as telling my chicks apart...what about putting a different colored dot on the bottom of their "feet" so the other chicks won't peck at it, but I can pick them up and see the different colors. Would that be bad for the chick? I'm talking about something like a Sharpie, that wouldn't wear off easily.

Not a dumb question. It would likely wear off pretty quickly. Some people mark their heads with sharpie. That wears off fairly quickly too. You have to keep remarking them. Those little hair bands worked great for me at this age. It's just as they got older that they started disappearing.
