My first duck egg!!

By the way RunnerWhisperer, I notice you are from Marysville? We live in Snohomish. Closer to Lake Stevens.

Just thought I would say howdy, from another "my-duck-just-laid-her-first-egg" duck owner!

My girls have had egg droop for a while and haven't layed a single egg yet. Thank you TSC for selling me defective mallards

. I have noticed duck poop in the nesting boxes though which I thought was weird since it was all in a big pile like they were sleeping there and I thought ducks most of the times had to be trained to use their nesting boxes. Anyway, congrats on your first duck egg

I wish mine would lay.

What does a laying quack sound like? I think my lady is getting ready to lay but she quacks pretty randomly.

Her laying quack I think was more of a distressed sounding quack. Kind of when they get seperated from the rest of the flock they get a little paniced. I think it's because it was only her second and it's still new!? This morning I went out around 6am and found that she had already laid her third egg. No noise for this one? I sleep with my window open so I can hear if anything is going on in the night. Not a peep! I was proud to see though that this egg had been laid in her nesting area. I had put some fresh straw inside thier dog house last night before bedtime. I'm not sure if that made a difference or if she just figured it out!?

Thanks! I am so proud and glad! After hearing about being egg bound I was worried about her. Good to know she is laying nice shelled eggs brings relief to me. It was a waiting game for me too! It will happen!!

I know, I'm just waiting. Today I saw an egg shaped imprint in one of the nesting boxes, looked all over the coop and found nothing. My duckies are magicians
