My husband and I are parents of 6 children between ages of 6 and 12. Our children have been home school for 2 years now so we trying to make our home more of a natural learning area. We have 3 German shepherds in our back yard and a very playful 6 month old kitten in our home. Today we purchased two precious ducklings which we are going to raise into house ducks. I have done lots of research on how to raise my ducks in my home. I am hoping this is another place for good information. Thank you in advance for your patience with me and my possible dumb questions :)

Hi and [IMG] - great to have you onboard. I'm sure your children must be thrilled with your new arrivals!

The Learning Centre is a great resource, even for experienced chicken / duck keepers - loads of info on anything duck. https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center

Joining your state thread (just type your state in the search box) will also put you in contact with other BYC members in your area.

The members here are amazing - very friendly and helpful, so if you need an answer to a question or simply want some reassurance that what you are doing is ok, then post away - we all help each other out here at BYC. There's no such thing as a "dumb" question so don't hesitate to ask.

    All the best

There's a lot of great peeps here! Feel free to ask lots of questions. But most of all, make yourself at home. I'm so glad you decided to join the BYC family. I look forward to seeing you around the run. I'm not really familiar with ducks. But congratulations!

Please supervise the dogs and playful kitty - interactions with ducklings or chicks usually end up with dead birds.
