My First Ducks Ever Are Hatching!

Good morning everyone and thank you all. Had another hatch this morning. I can't tell yet if it's black or a dark chocolate color!

The dark baby that hatched is starting to dry a little and looks like it's gonna be another chocolate. Another baby just hatched! It looks like another barred and the last one has pipped a hole in the shell and looks like another with mostly yellow down. After that pipped egg hatches, the hatch is finally finished.

The babies are all very sweet and beginning to show personalities! They follow me in a line and got to come outside with me and weed the garden on this nice warm day.. What an adventure for them all! Pics incoming!

It's a big world for little ducks but they're up to the challenge. Headed through a jungle. The lavender duckling, of course, being the oldest is the one who hangs back and is more comfortable being alone.

Some clumps of grass provide a nice shady retreat for a break.

There's lots of goodies to be had in the dirt and tons of greens to nibble.

Oh my goodness! GREAT post! The little ducklings are just adorable! I love hatching ducklings, it is so much fun, and really exciting! Although sometimes the anticipation is excruciating!:barnie Adorable!:love:love:love:goodpost:

I definitely think that you should take a picture once a day (or maybe once a week) and then post a timeline! I would love to see these little duckies grow up! So cute! I need to definitely get some...

I will try and add plenty of pics along the way. What a good idea!

The barred that hatched earlier is really tiny. It's call is very high pitched and it has a naked little bloated potbelly. Nothing seems to be hanging out but it seems odd. It was still partially wet and I moved it quickly to a tiny brooder with a lamp to finish drying ( the incubator is awful filthy after all the hatching and I am trying to move them out asap.) So I didn't get a great look at it. I'll let it dry and fuss with it soon.
