My first ever egg!

I got my first egg today from my first chickens....I got them in May as little chicks. This is so cool! What an eggciting day for me!!
Woohoo!

It is a small brown one with a little bit of sticky stuff on the outside. I am sure hoping that is normal but I will keep checking the chickens and make sure they are good. Sure will be nice to find 4 or 5 eggs a day when they get going!

Awesome!!! It never gets boring. I have three out of nine laying, and every time I open the nest box door, I feel the same thrill all over again! I can't imagine what my first 9 egg day will be like!!!

It only gets better from now on! I have 7 pullets. I got the first egg in July - and now I often get 7 in a day. It's great, and it's amazing how quickly those eggs add up.

And yes, the wet sticky stuff is normal. That is what's called the "bloom". It's a coating that protects the egg from bacteria.
