My first ever Quail hatched 11/02/2010 New pictures 12/15/2010

I don't know with the wild-type...if a boy it will develop a bib and start turning blue

and the red feathers of course around the vent area and if it's a normal red breasted male, the breast will be half blue and half red.

The silver if it's a male, some get bibs and pink bellies and pink vent feathers. females are all silver or silver and pearly.

The Red breasted girls, still looks like them.

The silver has a lavander tint to it is that normal with the silver?
If I do have 2 pairs what girl would you put the silver with?

Well since you have 2 red breasted girls I don't guess you have much of a choice

As for taming them down enough to handle? Good luck, it is near impossible. If you handled them a lot from the time they hatched they MIGHT tame down some, but most likely you'd just stress them out so much that they would die. They aren't really 'handling' types.

Yeah my luck all girls or 1 boy and 3 girls fighting for him.
I would just like to clean the cage with out them tring to brake their cute little necks.

Put a towel over the cage, that will calm them down. Does it open from the front or the top?

ETA: If you DO happen to have all girls I have PLENTY of extra boys looking for girlfriends!

if it's all girls or 2 pairs it must be the first timers luck!

It should be made mandatory on this section that each quail type be put in the title of the thread. So that I can keep my eyes off the Buttons. Some of you know, I really can't have any and need to keep away from them.

I start to handle mine from day 1, if you don't they become VERY wild , Quickly! Course even if you do, they can still be wild, even if ya handle them a whole lot. Course I had 11 buttons that I was trying to handle!

It shouldn't be hard w/ only 3!
