My first Fox attack that ended in a kill

Ya they are suppose to be a blast lol hubby and I have been thinking of going to Texas to hog hunt. (kinda funny he thinks he is ok with killing a pig but not a fox) I dont think he has it in him but it would still be fun to try :)

Yea the Florida Hog hunt was so tempting they could guarantee a kill if you used a guide and their dogs and even rented out guns all you had too do was supply the ammo

. But time was not good and end of vacation lack of funds killed that

. Someday for sure and Elk hunting as well. Best darn steak I had was Elk.

Ya wanted to hunt for elk make some sausage hhhmmmm nummy nummy lol Sound like a good deal for the hog hunting. It looks like a blast just let the dogs go what for the squealing and take off lol Hogs are such a problem in Texas and Florida they are ruining everything even attacking dogs and small kids. they hurt the natural wildlife populations and need to be wiped out

I hope it helps, the thoughts on trolls.

Some of us - reading & posting here) did not grow up hunting, and I'd imagine are uncomfortable or even freaked out by our hunting comments - and the passion people feel about it.

My grandfather taught us hunting was to put meat on the table or sometimes to reduce the #s of a legit pest - never to just kill things. An unspoken reason we hunted was that we were carrying on the traditions of our pioneer ancestors. It wasn't male only - women in the family were invited, too. My grandfather was so proud that my grandmother shot a huge buck - and made some other men (who had been grumbling about her) look like idiots.

If you don't know hunting and see us talking about guns and dogs, you could of course feel 'gee, these people are just blood thirsty savages.'. A lot of it's just talk - we get excited and talk the same way others speak excitedly about sports or fast cars. In the field, we're different - you have to be professional - hunting is darn hard work sometimes - and you got to have a solid pro demeanor to get a shot.

We are killing at some point - there is no denying that - and its not always easy. But we are a part of nature, not outside it, and you must kill. to live.. Things were killed to make even, yes, a tofu burger! Huh!! Have you ever walked in a row crop field? It is mostly devoid of life save for that one crop. Plowing kills untold #s of ground animals - and no deer and few birds live in farmland (exceptions - farmers let them forage for spillage after crop is out). The land has been taken to make food for YOU - and a huge # of animals perish or are denied a place to live or exist - so YOU can live. So you are killing or causing many animals not to exist, even if you are vegan.

I know we scare people. I don't know what to do about that, but we think we're being more honest - and we're just being who we are - and keeping alive our old traditions. Thanks for giving me a moment. I don't intend to 'change your mind' here or anything radical - I just hope you now have a new perspective on this issue.

Mygirls, elk meat is crazy good. I once did a side by side elk vs sirloin beef comparison - we had a fondue pot - for city people we'd invited - just meat on a skewer' in the hot oil - til brown - and the elk vanished. Beef was left over.

Hope you can get one - and consider less sausage and more steaks or roasts - whatever you like. Elk has a great taste - doesn't need to be hidden imo, anyway. Maybe you didn't literally mean all sausage - but hey, if that's what someone likes, they should go for it!
That said, some game meat is a challenge (we had venison last night - a milk soak did it wonders). Deelish!

Doubt we can eliminate wild pigs in Texas, anyway. Too much habitat - pigs are too smart. Main problem is when they get into row crops. With cattle - feral pigs - well they can damage fences - but it's not as bad as you hear.. TBH most ranchers I know put up with em and try to manage them.

Big boars can get very gamey & hard to eat - mid to small size is best eating, they say. What people do now is trap em alive, release them (just kidding :D), feed em out if small (in pens), and either slaughter for family consumption or sell as boar to specialty market - and I've heard, the prison system.

Dog hunting is not for the faint of heart, on boar, anyway. I don't live there now - might look into such a dog when I move back. Used to have bird dogs - marvelous to see a well trained dog In the field. They live for it & are so miserable when not hunting.
