My first Fox attack that ended in a kill

I wonder...what about a cheap motion sensor where you know the fox goes - like near the baited trap.

Rig the wire to.your house, where it turns on a light or buzzer. That way at night, it would wake you to get your shot.

Now, tons could go wrong. Mice or wind moving leaves could wake you 18 times. Then, just disconnect at bedtime, giving you a chance at a shot from sunset to bedtime. I assume you have an outdoor light on all night to see it.

Well, another idea. May or may not be worth doing.

edit - also game cameras are getting cheap - they detect motion, & I think you could rig one to show on a screen in your house. High tech FTW!. Or a security camera.

I was joking around with my husband telling him that I wanted a flame thrower thats motion activated lol but I am sure that would probably cause some problems haha

ok Hunger Games :p

Well everyone is telling me to make the first shot count this would be an easy way of doing that lol plus its just cool

I hear ya! I can hardly wait to hear about your new gun! So exciting! Almost as much fun as waiting for chicks to hatch!

Ya I kinda wanted to get a rooster and start hatching my own chicks but I have like 8 different breeds of chickens and I hear that roosters are loud and horrible. So I dont know if I should get one or not....

Roosters are great! I felt the same way in the beginning. At least have one! I like the RIR rooster crow. It's pretty classic. I have a Cuckoo Marans roo that I could strangle sometimes! His crow is very high pitched. Sounds like a badly played trumpet! I kept him because he's big & meaty! I've heard langshan roos are pretty quiet. A good rooster will help the rest of his flock find food & protect them. I look for these traits when selecting a new roo. One always seems to stand out from the rest. It's amazing what you can 'tune out' sometimes. I hear Ameraucanas & Silver Gray Dorking roosters are particularly beautiful! I can vouch for Dorkings! If mine didn't have such a bad attitude to begin with, I would've kept him. In any case, I hope you consider the idea. Broody hens can be fun too!

Not to sound stupid but I can get one breed of rooster for all my other breeds of hens and that will be ok? no weird like mixing or anything? And what will the chicks be like mixed breeds?
