It is actually only day 18 here today...and it hatched while still in the incubator. I'm putting them in a separate hatcher tonight. Such a nice surprise to come down and see this little fluff ball sitting on the eggs patiently. First I saw the egg with the hole in it, and no chick anywhere in sight. I thought...oh no, it exploded...but then I saw the little fluffy chick sitting on top of some of the other eggs, going for a slow ride since they are still turning.

We took her out, and she is doing great...but lonely. She keeps cheeping very loudly...pip out other chickies! Hopefully she'll have some company in the next few days!

We have 3 chicks out of the hatcher, (2 hatched in the incubator, and we took one out of the hatcher last night). 4 new ones are peeping in the hatcher right now, and I got to watch 2 unzip their egg shells this morning and pop out, and it looks like 4 more are on their way to breaking free this morning.

Phew. It is a relief, because I had to open my hatcher...even though every forum says don't. There was one post that said if you have to do it, then do it as fast as possible, and that is what we did. We had one rotten egg that was seeping and cracked, and I figured it was going to explode before the other eggs hatched...so my husband and I embarked on a stealth operation, open the hatcher really fast, he grabbed the hatched chick and I grabbed the rotten egg. Closed it (this was last night) and crossed our fingers that we didn't shrink wrap the other babies in their eggs.

    Congrats! adorable chicks. :love

Don't believe all those fear mongers that say never open the door. Silliness! Granted, over and over and over isn't advised, but you did the right thing by getting the stinking egg out!
