My First Incubator Hatch! Is Everything OK?

Good morning to you too! Congratulations are in order for 2 hatched ducklings that are moving around and seem to be in good spirits. One hatched a few minutes ago (I helped a little) and another hatched during the night, and he's almost dry and pretty lively. There are 3 more eggs- 1 is hatching- a little beak is out, and the other 2 still have a long ways to go as there are no visible cracks. One is audible when next to my ear, I can feel and hear movemnt. The other is quite still. The 2 hatched ones are placed in a tote with lamp and soft towels and thermometer.
Many thanks for all your help.

Congrats!!

That's awesome, congrats on the new additions! :)

Are the ones that hatched already the ones that were hatching from the wrong end of their eggs?

Ought of 5 eggs, 2 made it out alive and are thriving. I;ll take pix later and post. The other died ...actually 2 died, as one was never viable...just unfertilized egg. The 2 that died did late in the game. One puntured it's yolk while trying to get out and drowned. The other seems to have suffocated, as I heard it pipping one day and the next, no more sound, and then after I opened a small hole in it's pipping spot, it wasn't breathing or moving. The texts you linked me to were Very helpful. Next time I'll be better prepared for success. Th2 out of 4 isn't bad for malpositioned eggs, right?

Aww, sorry about the ones you lost. Were they all malpositioned? I would say 2 out of 4 is pretty good, considering you probably would've lost all of them if you hadn't helped them a little. Definitely nothing you could've done for the one that punctured it's yolk sac. So sad, but at least you have two ducklings! You have any pics? I'd love to see them. :)

Are they eating/drinking for you? It's important to get them to start as soon as possible, especially when they have a rough hatch. You don't want them to get weak on you. Anyway, congrats on the two little ones!

They are really active and eating and drinking fine. They are really interested in being with somebody, and that would have to be each other and me. They are really quick little guys and like to run. I have a temperature controlled tote for their home, but let them run around as much as they want because it seems to make them happy.
