my first ostrich egg...

wow... or more like WOW!! .. matter of a day, and what yesterday appeared as dark spots within the void are now light spots within the void (not the SAME spots, but the void between the air cell and the embryonic mass IS filling in)..... even if this little guy doesn't hatch, hope somebody eventually benefits from the little i've posted...

John......Just don't give up........and don't open Inci too often, I know it's very frustrating not knowing till the end lol let nature take it's course, luckily with my emu eggs I can't candle, so no interruption, just turning ......turning patiently 50+ days and wait.......wait......wait...... longest wait I ever had.
Good luck.

a little too light in the room to candle to see if it's broken thru the inner membrane yet ... check it again later tonight.....

If they're anything like Emus, you'll know when it sounds. Gerry was very talkative in his egg once he poked through the membrane.

I used to whistle to Gerry when he was in his egg and to this day if I whistle for him he comes running.

It was interesting to read that there is definitely . . . ummm . . . 'communication' between the eggs as hatching approaches.

Last winter, when Boy Emu's chicks were coming out, I wasoutirhgt amazed by the notion that, after fifty-something days, the eggs 'knew' how hatch almost together!!
