On December 7th, 2019 My very own first pair of Mandarin Ducks are being shipped from Mallard Lane Farms!! I'm super excited and wanted to share my experience as I go along! I will be posting pictures of the Pair, and their Aviary I'm going to build! I plan to build the Aviary 8ft tall x 8ft wide x 8ft long. I will put a ton of branches for perching and a corner filtered pond. I plan to buy another pair from a breeder near by but before I can do that, I will need to build the seconds pair their own Aviary. So for now I'm focusing on my first pair!

I have maybe a week give or take before they arrive so I need to get building! I'm going to the hardware store today to buy framing lumber!

Good for you! I have always wanted those ducks, especially the white form, and I might get a pair in the next few years. Keep us posted on how it turns out.

Thank you both! I sure will!
I just bought some of the framing lumber for the Avairy, and a long 10ft x 12"x 1" board to build a nesting box out of!
I've always loved building and having poultry gives reasons to build!

So I thought I bought a 1" x 12" x 10ft...... NOPE! The board was labeled wrong and I ended up with a 1" x 10" x 12ft board. I didn't realize this till trying to put it together! I'm very pleased with my Nesting box! Hope my Mandarins are as well!

I too just bought a pair of juvenile Mandarin ducks 9 months of age. They literally flew the coop. They were supposed to be pinion. So, I've decided to hatch my own. This should be a lot of fun

Someone gave me a baby duck that got stuck in a public pool water system once. It stayed until it could fly. Then it few the coop too.
